Have you ever considered LASIK (laser eye surgery to get rid of glasses and contacts) but have been just a little to “chicken” to go through with it :)?? The thought of someone “touching your eye” makes you want to curl up in a ball and hide in a corner? What is the surgery like, is there pain, what will you experience?
Meet Andrew, who just had LASIK in Jan. 2011. I interviewed him to get his thoughts and impressions on the surgery. |
Dr. Tahir : Why did you want to have LASIK Andrew?
I was tried of having to grab for my glasses and mess around with contact lenses. Not having to either would make it easier with my job and to save money in the long run. I wear a mask at work for diving and having to deal with contacts can be very difficult. I also leisure dive.
Dr. Tahir : Was there any pain involved- were you scared?
No, not really. I was told how easy it was and looked forward to it. They gave me some eye drops to numb my eyes and made sure I was comfortable. They put this “paper clip thing” to hold the eyes lids open which was weird but overall not bad. The place was very comforting and very little pain.
Dr. Tahir: How did the day go of your surgery? How as it after?
I arrived a few hours early, they dilated my eyes, I had the surgery which took all of 5 min and I was done. I was amazed at how quick it really was. My eyes were dry and hazy for the first day or so but by the 2nd day I was about to see the clock and look across the room! It was amazing.
Any regrets with the procedure or outcome so far?
None, I love being able to see the minute I wake up. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
How has the service been with our office regarding this whole event?
Excellent - everyone was very nice. Dr. Tahir explained the procedure to me, showed me what I could expect, talked to me about before and after expectations… it was pretty much right on. I had to be dilated for the entire day to get some numbers which wasn’t fun but it was not that bad either.
Would you recommend our office and LASIK to others?
Absolutely! Very hassle free - great staff, wonderful personalities, bright smiling faces..
Anything else you think a person considering LASIK should know?
It is wonderful not having to worry about glasses or contacts. In fact I still think I need to take the contacts out at night sometimes. I think people should know that they will probably see better than they have seen in a long time!
If you are interested in LASIK or just want to know more about it give us a call anytime.
